About luxtek

How luxtek Started

In 2020, when COVID had brought the world to a standstill, Adrian from Crown Photo Booths Brisbane and his longtime friend Adam Wilhelm found themselves with a rare window of time. Adrian and Adam met during a website development diploma back in 2013 and had remained close mates ever since. During lockdown, both were out of work and suddenly had twelve months of space to create something of their own.
Adrian had been sitting on an idea for years. A photo booth built specifically for nightclubs. Something built tough enough to survive punches, kicks, drink spills, and everything that comes with the nightlife environment. He pitched the idea to Adam. Adam had time. Adrian had the industry experience. The timing was perfect. The boys formed luxtek.
Adam began developing the custom software and Adrian drove the concept from the ground. It needed to be high definition, fast, simple for patrons, and able to collect user details without annoying repeat prompts. The first nightclub to give luxtek a go was Prohibition in Brisbane’s Valley. The venue agreed to an eight week trial. Adrian and Adam lived in the back room of the club, monitoring usage, fixing bugs, gathering feedback, and improving the flow. After eight solid weeks of real world testing and strong data capture, Prohibition signed the first twelve month contract.
This was the start of luxtek.

Growth, Adaptation, and a New Direction

Over the next two years, Adrian kept boots on the ground while still running Crown Booths, and Adam continued to push the software forward. Adrian’s involvement in national and international photo booth groups kept their ideas fresh. He travelled to the Photo Booth Expo in Las Vegas each February to keep an eye on global trends and upcoming technology.
Around year two, the photo booth landscape shifted. The old school vintage pay per use booths with curtains, cash payments, and instant printouts surged back into style. This model threatened to overshadow the original luxtek nightclub system. There was no way the boys would abandon two years of work, so they introduced a second booth model to compare performance and conduct A B testing.
The results were clear. The hybrid booth model paired with luxtek’s custom software outperformed everything. Venues could earn money, gather data, and avoid paying for the booth service entirely. The original model was no longer needed. The business rebranded, repositioned, and moved to a full scale profit share service that provided far more value to venues.
The two years of software development were not wasted. The industry lacked polished and robust software solutions. With twenty to thirty percent of changes, luxtek suddenly had a commercial grade platform ready for national and international use.

What luxtek Is Today

From a single nightclub trial, luxtek has expanded to eight venues with steady growth. The industry has shown the boys that not all businesses are the same. Some owners value user data and understand that data is king. Others place priority on dollar return. Both are valid, and luxtek caters to all.
Luxtek now offers one of the only Australian manufactured photo booths on the market. Every booth is custom designed using CAD, built with powder coated steel, and fitted with the latest hardware. The software is the backbone. Upsell opportunities, user data capture, documentation delivery, analytics dashboards, venue portals, and daily operational support all come standard.
The entire system has been designed so that venues can generate income, gain insights into their patrons, and boost their marketing efforts without lifting a finger.

Where luxtek Is Heading

Luxtek is currently operating across Queensland and New South Wales with plans to expand throughout Australia in 2026. Both Adrian and Adam are now full time in the business and focus on luxtek seven days a week. The goal is clear. Build the most advanced, reliable, and profitable photo booth platform in Australia and continue refining the technology so that every venue, from nightclubs to entertainment centres, has access to industry leading hardware and software.
Luxtek exists because two friends decided to use a difficult moment in time to create something better. Today, luxtek is a growing Australian tech manufacturer, a trusted partner to venues, and a company built on constant improvement, innovation, and support
